The Structure of OGC

Constituent Parts of the Project

Building a Typology of Greek Coinage

Picture
The Online Corpus of Greek Coinage (OGC) is an international, collaborative project to describe all known types of ancient Greek coinage.

OGC will consist of a series of typological descriptions, arranged geographically and chronologically.  To each individual type will be appended information concerning specimens of that type recorded in any of a series of sources. The project will be born-digital, and will fully employ the principles of Linked Open Data.

The resources on which the Typology will draw for specimens of coinage can be divided into six categories.

1. Core Collections

2. Hoards

3. Sylloge Nummorum Graecorum

4. Excavation coins

5. Commerce

6. Private collections
