http://nomisma.org-ecfn2019.unime.it/  OGC is delighted to announce that the Joint Programming Initiative on Cultural Heritage has awarded funding of €570,000 to a new Linked Open Data project for Greek coinage. ARCH: Ancient Coinage as Related Cultural Heritage will establish, for the first time, an overarching platform for the study, curation, archiving and preservation of the monetary heritage of the ancient world. The project will develop one geographical focus – Pre-Roman Spain and southern Gaul – in the form of a specific online reference tool (Monedaiberica) that will draw upon public collections and objects in commerce, as well as a program of research designed to exploit the opportunities offered by a Linked Open Data infrastructure. This will examine questions of monetary and cultural connectivity and interaction across the borders of Spain and France in antiquity, in collaboration with leading scholars in the monetary and cultural history of this geographical area, working as Associate Partners based in Oxford, Paris, Bordeaux, Orléans, and Valencia.
The project will be directed by Dr Frédérique Duyrat (Bibliothèque nationale de France, Paris), Professor Andrew Meadows (New College, Oxford) and Professor Pere Pau Ripollès (Universitat de València). Funding is provided by the AHRC in the UK, ANR in France and MINECO in Spain. For further details see the JPI announcement here.  Announcing...
